about me

bwfaceHello!

I’m a music teacher based in Pasadena, California. You can find out more about studying with me here.

I grew up in rural Oregon, where I started teaching violin and piano lessons when I was 13 — something I’ve enjoyed ever since. After high school, I moved across the country to Rochester, NY, to attend the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, earning bachelor’s degrees in violin performance, music theory, and brain & cognitive sciences, and later a master’s degree in pedagogy of music theory. More recently, I returned westward and completed my Ph.D in musicology at UC Santa Barbara in 2017, supported by a Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellowship. Since then, I have remained active as a private teacher in the Pasadena area, and have held additional teaching roles at Idyllwild Arts Academy and USC. I enjoy working with students of all ages to foster curiosity, creativity, and healthy musical growth.
